Here’s The First Snippet Of Naomi Scott’s New Song From ‘Aladdin’

The first snippet of a brand new song from Disney’s upcoming live-action Aladdin featuring Naomi Scott’s Jasmine has surfaced online.

Disney’s reimagining of its hit 1992 children’s film is set to feature the return of all of the classic Aladdin songs, however, the film will include two brand new songs created just for the film, including one which the film’s star Mena Massoud teased would be especially empowering for women. Composer Alan Menken has returned once again to provide the film’s score, in addition to c0-writing new songs with La La Lands Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, one of which will be a solo for Naomi Scott’s Princess Jasmine titled “Speechless.”

Thanks to a new singing doll from Jakks Toys, we’ve got the first listen of a snippet from Naomi Scott’s power ballad Speechless from the new Aladdin. You can give it a listen below.

Speaking with USA Today, Naomi Scott described the song as being about Jasmine finding her voice and the courage to speak for the people of Agrabah.

“I mean, how timely is that? (Jasmine’s) not perfect. She doesn’t get it right all the time. It’s just showcasing that she gets to a point where, ‘It’s not going to be easy and I may lose this fight, but I need to step up.'”

Guy Ritchie has directed the film from a script written by John August (Big Fish) and Game of Thrones writer Vanessa Taylor. August and Ritchie are also producing the film with Dan Lin. Marc Platt (La La Land) and Chris Montan (Frozen) are consulting for the project with Jonathan Eirich (Deathnote) serving as executive producer.

The cast features Mena Massoud who stars in the titular role of Aladdin, as well as Will Smith as the Genie, Power Rangers star Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Numan Acar (Homeland) as Hakim, the head of the guards and Jafar’s right-hand man, and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar. In addition, the live-action remake features new characters made just for the film played by Billy Magnussen (Game Night) and former Saturday Night Live comedienne Nasim Pedrad.

“Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.

The film is currently slated to hit theaters May 24, 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the animated classic Aladdin as we learn it.
