One of the most exciting aspects of the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder is the fact that Natalie Portman, who was absent from Ragnarok, will be returning as Jane Foster. Not only is Portman set to reprise her role of scientist Jane, but she’ll also be assuming the mantle of Mighty Thor. Portman originally had a falling out with the Marvel Cinematic Universe after they failed to innovate on her character in 2013’s The Dark World. With the promise of Mighty Thor under the direction of Taika Waititi, Portman has returned to the franchise, ready to give us her take on one of Marvel’s most beloved heroes.
Since Avengers: Endgame, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor has traded in Mjolnir for Stormbreaker, an axe far more powerful than the centuries-old hammer, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he just gave the beloved hammer to Natalie Portman’s Jane.. In fact, the first look at Portman’s character from Love and Thunder, which comes from a t-shirt, shows her carrying Mjolnir alongside Thor and Valkyrie. Portman’s Jane is rocking the complete Mighty Thor suit, right down to the helmet and blood-red cape.

Directed by Taika Waititi from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn and Jeff Goldblum. Matt Damon, Sam Neill, Luke Hemsworth, Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone and Russell Crowe are also on board.
