Netflix Establishes Coronavirus Relief Fund For Out Of Work Employees

Netflix has established a $100M coronavirus relief fund to help people under the company who have been affected by the epidemic.

The coronavirus has hit the world in ways that no one saw coming. In recent weeks, several films have pushed back their release dates, most films and television shows have shut down production and several celebrities have been infected. In addition, several films that were put in theaters right before the outbreak became serious are also being made available on-demand and on other streaming platforms, breaking long-established Hollywood traditions. But now Netflix had dedicated itself to help those who have been put out of work by the coronavirus epidemic.

In a recent blog post, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos stated that Netflix would be establishing a relief fund for those put out of work by the coronavirus. The funds are said to be worth $100M and was established for the unusual times that the industry is in. The majority of the funs will go to the people on Netflix’s own productions who have been hit by the coronavirus. The details are currently being worked out but the streaming titan has already committed to paying its workers for two weeks following the production suspensions.

In addition, Netflix said that it will donate $15M to other third party production groups and other non-profit organizations. This includes the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Covid-19 Disaster Fund, the Motion Picture, and Television Fund and the Actors Fund Emergency Assistance in the US, and the AFC and Fondation des Artistes. the post, however, did not say when the distribution of the money would begin.
