Netflix Director Alan Yang Has Discussed Directing A Marvel Studios Film

Prominent Netflix director Alan Yang recently confirmed that he’s met with Marvel Studios about potentially directing a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Studios are no stranger to hiring directors who’ve made an interesting debut away from action movies to helm their adventures in the MCU. Most recently, Netflix director Alan Yang revealed that he’s met with the studio about directing a Marvel movie. Alan Yang is best known for co-creating Master of None with comedian Aziz Ansari, before moving on to direct the upcoming Tigertail which arrives on Netflix on April 10.

Alan Yang spoke to CineXpress ahead of Tigertail‘s Netflix debut and explained that he’s worked in a few different genres – pointing out his work in comedy and drama. He revealed in the interview that he’s met with Marvel Studios about directing an entry in the MCU, although he didn’t mention which projects or characters they discussed.

“I’m really omnivorous, you’ll see. I’ve done comedy, I’ve done drama. It sounds funny but I was meeting with Marvel about directing a movie for them, so maybe we’ll do that down the road.”

In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Directed by Cate Shortland from a script written by Eric Pearson based on a story by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, the film stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, Ray Winstone, Olivier Richters, and Rachel Weisz.

Black Widow will be released on a future date to be determined.
