Netflix Brings ‘Stranger Things 2’, ‘Bright’, & ‘Death Note’ To SDCC 2017

Netflix has announced panels for Stranger Things 2, Bright, and the live-action film adaptation of the hit anime series Death Note at San Diego Comic-Con this year.

On Thursday, July 20, Bright and Death Note will overtake Hall H at 3:15 p.m. with the cast of both upcoming Netflix films. Bright follows Will Smith as a Los Angeles police officer in an alternate present day where monsters walk the Earth alongside humans. Smith is forced to work with an Orc (Joel Edgerton) in order to find a powerful wand that dangerous forces are willing to kill for. Smith and Edgerton, as well as other cast members including Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez, and director David Ayer will be in attendance to talk about the film as exclusive footage is revealed.

Writers of the original Japanese manga Death Note, Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obatawill also be on hand along with the cast to discuss the upcoming live-action adaptation starring Nat Wolff.

In addition, Netflix will host a surprise screening later that night at 10 p.m. in The Horton Grand Theater.

On Saturday, July 22, Stranger Things is set to turn SDCC 2017 upside down at 3:00 p.m. in Hall H. The cast will be joined by series creators Matt and Ross Duffer to discuss the making of the new season and present brand new footage teasing the follow-up. When the series returns, the adventure continues in the fall of 1984 as the world itself is now turning upside down. Stranger Things 2 will expand the mythology in season one as it explores the consequences of Will’s time spent in the upside down as well as the interdimensional gate which is still open at the Hawkins Lab. The sequel season will also plant the seeds for future seasons to come.

The streaming service released short teasers for Stranger Things 2, Bright, and Death Note, announcing their presence at Comic-Con this year. You can check them out below.

Death Note arrives on Netflix August 25, 2017, followed by Stranger Things 2 this Halloween and Bright this December. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on SDCC 2017 as we learn it and be sure to check back during the week of July 20-23 for our live coverage of the event.
