Netflix's live-action adaptation of the beloved Dark Horse Comics series The Umbrella Academy has finally kicked off production.
Starring Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan and Aidan Gallagher, The Umbrella Academy revolves around the estranged members of a dysfunctional family of superheroes as they work together to solve their father’s mysterious death while coming apart at the seams because of their divergent personalities and abilities.
The series is based on the Eisner Award-winning comic book series from Way and Ba. Universal Cable Productions, Dark Horse Entertainment and Bluegrass Television are producing the project with Steve Blackman serving as showrunner and executive producer alongside Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse Entertainment. Way is on board as co-executive producer. The pilot script has been adapted by Jeremy Slater.
The Umbrella Academy is set to premiere its 10-episode first season later this year. Keep an eye on Heroic Hollywood as more details on the series come out.
