New Beyoncé Song To Be Featured In ‘The Lion King’ Remake

A new album for The Lion King has just been announced, which will include a new song from Beyoncé that will be in the upcoming film.

Ahead of The Lion King world premiere, it was announced by Disney that a new album for the film is coming from Beyoncé. Every since the superstar signed, it was expected that she would also contribute to the music of the remake. The original 1994 film featured music from Elton John and composer Hans Zimmer.

The Lion King: The Gift will be, “A new album of songs featuring global recording artists and steeped in the sounds of Africa.” Beyoncé produced the album and a new single called, “The Spirit,” which will be featured in the remake and available Tuesday night. The entire album will be released on July 19.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

Directed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King features the voices talents of Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.

The Lion King opens in theaters on July 19, 2019.
