It's morphin' time! Okay, maybe not. However, is time at least time for some new possible details regarding Dean Israelite's upcoming Power Rangers.
Also contained within the report was information regarding the film’s villain, who apparently will be an existing character from the earlier days of the franchise. In the film the new Rangers will take on Scorpina, a minion of the franchise’s original antagonist Rita Repulsa, who has amassed an army of her own. With this bit of information also comes information about the opening sequence which you can read below. WARNING: This does contain some mild spoilers.
“From what we’re hearing, the Rangers (presumably the Dino Charge team at this point) are protecting the Morphin Grid, an energy field that provides power to every generation of Rangers. This energy grid not only lets the Rangers borrow its power to morph into their super versions, it gives them access to past, present, and future Ranger memories so that they can glimpse other Rangers and glean strategies from battles. The instruction manual on the Morphin Grid is probably pretty extensive, but certain glitches like not being able to sustain two of the same Rangers for long will give the Power Rangers writers plenty of plot options to work with.”
I haven’t watched the Power Rangers since the original team debuted back in the 90’s, so it’s a bit hard for me to really comment on some of the details. However, I will admit that I’m slowly gaining more interest in the film as we learn more about it. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
Power Rangers is set to hit theaters on January 13, 2017.
