One of the most discussed aspects of Zack Snyder's upcoming DC movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been Doomsday.
But there is still much we don’t know about the DC Extended Universe‘s take on the famous killing machine, but thanks to the French magazine Premiere who recently spoke with Patrick Tatopoulos, a production designer from Batman v Superman, we have some new information. Beware of some possible spoilers below.
When asked about what he could tease about Zack Snyder’s take on the creature that killed the Man of Steel in the comics, Tatopoulos teased with the following:
“We are able to tell a story in a fresh way. Doomsday is an evolution essentially. Fans may be aware of the death of Superman story, but this is handled in such a new way. When the film is called Batman v or versus Superman, it really has a lot of levels to the meaning. Superman isn’t just killed off at the end of something. We see how he evolves as part of Lex’s plan to protect the world.
Seeing the Superman we know, be gone, and then replaced with this reproduction is really going to make fans think of how we look at these super beings. It was especially interesting to figure out, how would you create Superman from Zod… then how would that involve into Doomsday.”
But right at the end, Tatopoulos drops one incredibly interesting tidbit which is that Doomsday may in fact not be the big baddie after all as he teases that there is a “larger threat” in store.
“Doomsday isn’t just the final act. Those feeling they may know too much this early, are going to be in for a true surprise. That’s something to find out on March 25th.”
Here’s the official synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:
Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is slated to come out in theaters on March 25, 2016.
