The shocking-not-so-shocking news comes hot off the presses of The Hollywood Reporter. Sources are telling the outlet that not only have the long-talked-about reshoot for 20th Century Fox’s The New Mutants not happened at this point but that there are currently no plans to do so.
It has been so easy to forget about The New Mutants film. All of 20th Century Fox’s attention has either been on the impending and unprecedented buyout by Disney or the other upcoming X-Men film from the studio, Dark Phoenix. Originally slated for release on April 13th, 2018, The New Mutants has since been pushed back a number of times. The first time it was delayed to February of 2019 and now the studio has it lined up for a theatrical run beginning August this year.
Chances are that if the film does ever see the light of day, it will be under the regime of the Mouse House. Now whether that means a legitimate wide release in theaters or via a streaming service like Hulu or Disney+ has yet to been seen.
What do you think will happen with The New Mutants? Will the film ever be finished? If so, do you think it will hit theaters or go straight to a streaming platform? Hit us up with your thoughts on the matter in the comments below!
