‘New Mutants’ Director Josh Boone Confirms X-Men Film Is PG-13

The New Mutants director Josh Boone has confirmed that the latest film in the X-Men franchise was made in mind with a PG-13 rating.

With the impending release of The New Mutants trailer on Monday, director Josh Boone has been clarifying questions fans might have regarding the much-delayed X-Men film. After recently confirming that The New Mutants cut to be released this April is in fact his intended vision, Josh Boone has revealed that the X-Men film will be rated PG-13. Responding to an X-Men fan on Instagram who was curious if there was any intention to make The New Mutants an R-rated film, Josh Boone said that the project was never going to go for a mature audience, despite rumors suggesting that it would ride the coattails of X-Men spin-offs like Deadpool and Logan.

Bill Sienkiewicz, an artist for The New Mutants comic books, took to Twitter to praise Josh Boone’s Instagram response. Sienkiewicz, who seems to have seen the X-Men film, applauded Josh Boone’s vision and stated that The New Mutants was scary enough at the PG-13 rating due to its atmosphere and tone. After two years of delays, rumors of reshoots and conflicting intentions for the film, Josh Boone’s The New Mutants is set to hit theatres nearly three years after the release of its first trailer. The latest X-Men film has received the blessing of Disney, the new owners of Fox, who produced the film way back in 2017 when it began production. From what’s been said of Josh Boone’s The New Mutants in the last week, fans have no reason to not be excited for the next film in the X-Men franchise. Everyone involved in The New Mutants seems to be proud of what they’ve done and are adamant that the X-Men film hitting theatres in a couple of months is exactly what they intended to deliver.
