Frank Castle, AKA The Punisher, will be getting his own Netflix series in the wake of his debut on Season 2 of Daredevil. Played by Jon Bernthal, we watched this new version of the Marvel anti-hero undergo his origin story and then some. So it’s no surprise that the studio is ramping up production on his solo series, which now has a working title.
According to ComicBook.com, the show is currently being referred to simply as Crime. As far as working titles go, that’s about as simple as it gets, but it at least lets us know that the direction of the series won’t be a huge departure from what we liked about Frank Castle’s character earlier this year. His mission mostly remains the same: to punish criminals.
The show has apparently started filming, as we’ve seen what appear to be set photos featuring Bernthal unshaven and wearing layers of black clothes. The reveal of this working title might lend weight to the theory that production is well underway. If that’s the case, then it’s possible that the series will arrive sooner than expected, perhaps late next year or early 2018.
Other than that, we don’t know much at all about the Punisher series and what the story will be. Ben Barnes has been added to the cast, but there’s no confirmation yet on who he’ll be playing. But as Marvel’s slate of Netflix series continue to make the rounds, we’ll probably start hearing more details and get a release date in the coming months.
