Now, fans should get pretty excited for a brand new trailer that is on the way sooner than we all expected. According to Trailer Track, the next Shazam! trailer has already been rated at a 2:22 runtime and has even been rated PG. Although this PG rating is likely referring to the tone and age appropriate nature of the trailer, it would be interesting if this will truly be evoking a more family-oriented tone.
It is interesting that a new trailer for Shazam! has been set before any new Aquaman trailer has been released, given that the latter is set to be released this Christmastime while the former will come in early April 2019. Either way, DC Comics fans should rejoice at the fact that we will be seeing more footage for the upcoming film earlier than we initially thought.
Here is the synopsis for Shazam!:
“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”
Directed by David F. Sandberg, the film stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Djimon Honsou, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Faithe Herman, Cooper Andrews and Marta Millan.
Shazam! zaps into theaters on April 5, 2019.
