A new behind the scenes set video of the next Transformers film features a brand new contraption used for filming some of the more spectacle based scenes.
The latest of Bay’s practical inventions is something pretty crazy. A behind the scenes video released on Facebook introduces us to what the crew have dubbed the ‘room roll’. What exactly does this piece of set do? Exactly what it says – rolls a room. In the video, you can see stars Mark Wahlberg (sporting some longer hair than in Age of Extinction) and Laura Haddock (new to the franchise) being told to hold on to a giant green pole. Then the set they’re on spins 360 degrees and doesn’t stop. Fun!
One crew member stressed the fact that filming the Transformers flick was “definitely intense” and “physical” because the actors are upside down for about half of the shoot. Haddock had an opinion on the rig too. When asked how it was while riding it, we can hear her reply “It’s pretty f**king weird!” Once she got off the set, she did give a more considered response, saying “it [was] pretty cool! It was so weird but cool.”
Optimus Prime finding his home planet, Cybertron, now a dead planet, which he comes to find he was responsible for killing. He finds a way to bring the planet back to life, but in order to do so he needs to find an artifact, and that artifact is on Earth.
Directed by Michael Bay, Transformers: The Last Knight is scheduled for release on June 23rd 2017. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Isabela Moner, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Jared Carmichael, Laura Haddock, with Anthony Hopkins and Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus Prime.
