Nick Jonas Returning For Sony’s ‘Jumanji’ Sequel

Musician and actor Nick Jonas is officially returning to play Alex in Sony’s yet-to-be titled sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

Former Disney star Nick Jonas is coming back for the Jumanji sequel. The film is currently untitled but will feature Jonas reprising his role as Alex. His character was a young aircraft pilot who had been stuck in Jumanji for over twenty years. The rest of the main cast will also return. That includes Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan. Jake Kasdan will also be back in the director’s chair.

A lot of other additional actors from the first film will be returning, including the teenage cast — Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman and Morgan Turner. Meanwhile, Awkwafina is in final negotiations for a major role in the sequel alongside Danny DeVito and Danny Glover. Audiences can expect the same blockbuster fun as the last one as the original cast is coming back together. The franchise seems to also be expanding with the addition of new players. Based on the children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg, the Jumanji franchise has followed the misadventures of characters who find themselves plagued by a magical game. The 1995 film starred Robin Williams in the lead role and followed the book’s story of wild jungle animals invading the real world while the sequel updated the concept to follow a group of teens who are transported to the world of Jumanji through a video game.

The Jumanji sequel will be released in theaters on December 13, 2019.
