No, There Isn’t A Shortlist Of Actors To Play ‘The Batman’ In Matt Reeves’ Film…Yet

No, the rumors aren’t true… there isn’t a shortlist of actors to replace Ben Affleck as Batman in the upcoming Matt Reeves directed film.

Earlier today a rumored shortlist of actors to play Batman emerged and took the Internet by storm. The list included young actors like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicholas Holt, Jack O’Connell, Jack Reynor and Alexander Ludwig. Like most rumors on the internet, this should have been taken with a massive grain of salt and vetted for accuracy.

The film currently doesn’t have a shortlist of actors. “There are no frontrunners because that list hasn’t hasn’t been formed yet,” said the first insider. Matt Reeves wants to perfect the script first before he meets with actors for the lead role. “The list seems to be a compilation of five of the most obvious candidates that anyone with access to Google and a reasonable knowledge of up and coming actors could come up with,” said the second insider.

After Ben Affleck’s departure was finally confirmed, speculation ran rampant on who will be portray the young Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’ upcoming film. Names like Armie Hammer, Rami Malek, Kit Harington, and others have been floated around by fans.

A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
