Masters of the Universe centers on the conflict between He-Man, the secret identity of Prince Adam, and the villainous sorcerer Skeletor on the planet Eternia. The franchise previously spawned an animated TV series that ran from 1983 to 1985 and 1987 live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren.
The Nee Brothers are directing the reboot from a script written by Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Sony’s Matthew Milam will oversee the project for the studio and Mattel is a partner on the film. Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch are producing alongside Franklin Entertainment’s DeVon Franklin. While David S. Goyer previously in talks to direct the film, he remains on board the project as an executive producer and screenwriter.
Sony’s Masters of the Universe movie starring Noah Centineo will arrive in theaters sometime in 2020. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for more updates on the project.
