Noah Hawley Says He’d Still Do The ‘Doctor Doom’ Film If Marvel Calls

Star Trek 4 director Noah Hawley offered an update on his Doctor Doom film and Marvel’s plans for the project.

At Comic-Con 2017, Noah Hawley announced he was developing a film centered on the infamous Fantastic For villain named Doctor Doom. While Noah Hawley had completed the script in 2018, Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets has left Doctor Doom film in a state of uncertainty now that the Fantastic Four character will fall under the control of Marvel Studios.

During an interview with Deadline, Noah Hawley noted that “the phone hasn’t rung” when asked about whether or not the Doctor Doom film is moving forward now that Marvel is in control of the character. However, while his work on the upcoming Star Trek film complicates matters, Noah Hawley added that he will still stay on board the Doctor Doom film if Marvel gives him a call:

“I love the script and what I did with it. Marvel seems to have a plan for everything, it would be great if I fell into that plan. And I haven’t been chasing it, and with Star Trek, it complicates it  But if the phone rings, I’m in.”

Are you hoping Marvel Studios will still move forward with Noah Hawley’s Doctor Doom film? Let us know what you hope Marvel does with the villain in the comments section below!

Noah Hawley previously described the film as a geopolitical thriller that would begin with Doctor Doom putting a dome over the fictional country he rules called Latveria. Doctor Doom would then invite a female journalist to be his voice to the world.

Marvel Studios confirmed plans to include The Fantastic Four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during its 2019 San Diego Comic-Con panel. However, the project was not listed in the Phase 4 lineup, meaning it may be some time before we learn what Marvel Studios has planned for Doctor Doom.

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Noah Hawley Doctor Doom and Marvel Studios’ plans for the future!
