Lucasfilm has a plan to counteract Star Wars spoilers by keeping The Last Jedi novelizations off the shelves until after the movie's been released.
Product listings for Penguin Random House and two listings from Hachette Book Group suggest that March 6, 2018 is when the novelizations for The Last Jedi for readers of all ages will arrive. When pressed about this information by fans, a representative for the wing of Del Rey responsible for Star Wars books suggests that these listings are accurate:
From the looks of things, Lucasfilm doesn’t want to risk the chance that details regarding the the final act of The Last Jedi will get out on the internet before they’re supposed to, even though waiting until March 6 seems like a long wait. Perhaps that date is close to when they plan on releasing the movie on home video formats. There’s still going to be plenty of book content for Star Wars fans in time for the movie’s release, as partial adaptations (covering the events of the movie up until a certain point) and reference books will still hit the shelves.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will rise on December 15, 2017. The movie’s cast includes Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Armitage Hux, Benicio Del Toro as “DJ”, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, and Jimmy Vee as R2-D2.
