Rumors continue to arise about the potential standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi film starring Ewan McGregor finally being announced at Star Wars Celebration.
Well, rumor has it that not only is a standalone Obi-Wan film in the works, but that the project may be officially announced at this year’s Star Wars Celebration event in Orlando, Florida. According to Star Wars News Net (SWNN), their source claimed that fans may be hearing the news they have been waiting for since the purchase of LucasFilm along with the announcement of standalone Star Wars Stories:
An announcement of an Obi-Wan movie might just be one of the big surprises at Celebration Orlando.
This possibility is supported by the existence of a few materials that were made in conjunction with the event.
SWNN also reported that their source claimed that the highly-rumored Boba Fett film which was originally set to be directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle and Fantastic Four) was still in development. However, the source described the project would not be an origin story for the character but rather an adventure featuring Boba Fett alongside an ensemble of Bounty Hunters.
Another project the source discussed was one that would target more of a young adult audience, and may potentially have some romantic elements. It was described as to potentially feature a romantic dynamic akin to the iconic relationship between Han Solo and Princess Leia. It would also potentially be a major opportunity to hire the first female director to helm a Star Wars film.
Out of all these rumored prospects, which Star Wars Story would draw your interest the most? I have been dying to see McGregor take another stab at Kenobi, and would love to see that project finally announced at Star Wars Celebration Orlando. Also, the potential young-adult project intrigues me – especially if it were in the vein of Claudia Gray’s excellent book, Lost Stars.
