A PG-13 version of Deadpool 2. While some are quick to assume this has to do with Disney’s acquisition of Fox and testing the waters for a possibly watered down version of the Deadpool character, the reasons are a bit more charitable than that. Literally. But yes, Once Upon A Deadpool will be in theaters for a limited release not too far from now, and 20th Century Fox wants you to ring in the holiday spirit with a new poster for the upcoming abridged take on Deadpool 2.
Earlier today, 20th Century Fox released a poster showcasing Wade Wilson decked out in all white as a legion of angels that look very familiar to the cast of Deadpool 2 play trumpets as the Merc with the Mouth descends from on high. Oh, and the tagline? “Yule Believe In Miracles.” Like Deadpool 2 returning to movie theaters after it’s already been released. Here, have a look at the new poster for Once Upon A Deadpool below.
As Wade Wilson told willing hostage Fred Savage in the teaser for Once Upon A Deadpool, this PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 has been filtered through the prism of childlike innocence. And what’s more childlike than a Merc with the Mouth dressed in all white and descending from Heaven like the savior that we all know, love, and need during the holiday season? Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has given rave reviews to the abridged take on Deadpool 2, and perhaps those kids who couldn’t see the original R-rated flick will get a chance to now see it.
Admittedly, yes, just like Logan and the original Deadpool film, it’s possible that kids under the age of 18 have seen this, not to mention it’s out on home release, but a knowingly PG-13 version of the film that’s only in theaters for a limited amount of time? This feels more like one of those Fantom events often done for classic movies. With that said and since this film will be out a week from tomorrow, what are your thoughts on Once Upon A Deadpool thus far? Will you be seeing this version of the movie? Let us know in the comments below.
Once Upon A Deadpool will arrive under the Christmas tree on December 12.
