Wade Wilson Defends Nickelback In New ‘Once Upon A Deadpool’ Promo

As you know by now, Fred Savage prefers Marvel films. And while yes, the Deadpool films are based on Marvel properties, one can always get pedantic and remind you that they’re not Marvel Studios, just Marvel films licensed by Fox. Such is the case when people get specific about their Marvel preferences between Marvel Studios, Fox, and Sony. But in some new promos for Once Upon A Deadpool, Wade and his willing hostage debate something unrelated to Marvel: Nickelback.

In the first promo, Fred Savage compared Fox Marvel films to Beatles music licensed by Nickelback — it’s music, but it sucks. We start off with that here, but Deadpool takes offense to that, saying that he’s tired of Fred Savage’s hate for Nickelback. To Fred, they’re overproduced, formulaic ear garbage. But you know who might disagree with that? Facts. And with that, Wade rattles off Nickelback’s achievements, which range from… 50 million albums worldwide, 11th best selling musical act of all time, and Billboard’s most successful rock group of the last decade.

Oh, but let’s not stop there. Nickelback also has six Grammy nominations, 12 Juno awards (those apparently count), and one People’s Choice Award. And a partridge in a f****** pear tree. But don’t take my word for it. Watch Wade defend Nickelback in the Once Upon A Deadpool promo below.

But it doesn’t even end there. Wade and Fred Savage make amends and even bond over Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me.” That has to be first for… well, anyone to bond over something Nickelback-related, as far as I can tell. But the second promo also has a reminder that one dollar of every ticket sold will go to Fuck Cancer charity. What have you thought of the promos for Once Upon A Deadpool thus far? Will you be seeing the film? Let us know in the comments below.

Once Upon A Deadpool arrives in theaters this Wednesday.
