Orlando Bloom Wants To Play Captain Britain For Marvel

Though we get plenty of actors saying they are interested in Marvel roles, we don’t get a whole lot with their sights set on playing Captain Britain. Well, besides Simon Pegg who recently expressed an interest himself. However, there is another actor throwing his name into the ring that has a little more of an action background.

Speaking with BBC Radio 2, Lord Of The Rings trilogy and Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise star Orlando Bloom expressed an interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He revealed that as a Marvel Comic fan, he wouldn’t be against donning the red, white and blue Captain Britan suit if Marvel came ringing.

“I do read [Marvel Comics] a little bit. Who’s the British one? Captain Britain! There you go. Terrible costume, though. And you’ve also got Captain America so what you going to do? Captain Britain versus Captain America?”

While it’s unlikely that we’ll see Marvel Studios take the character in that particular direction, them expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a more international direction following Black Panther wouldn’t be too surprising. But does Marvel Studios own the rights to Captain Britain?

While there have been rumors about Marvel using the character in live-action, he’s usually more closely associated with the X-Men. So, there’s a  chance he could be one of those shared characters between Fox and Marvel Studios but we’ll have to wait and see until someone asks someone more in the know about this one.
