‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’ Wraps Production

Pacific Rim: Uprising director Steven S. Deknight has announced that the sequel starring John Boyega has wrapped production on the project which shot mostly in Australia.

To celebrate, Deknight shared a photo of himself on set, thanking the cast and the crew for their efforts along with both Legendary and Universal Pictures as well as photographer Jasin Boland who shot the photo:

In the sequel, Boyega plays Jake Pentecost, the son of Stacker Pentecost played by Idris Elba in the original film from director Guillermo Del Toro. Elba, nor Del Toro, nor the original film’s star Charlie Hunnam will be returning for the second installment. Instead, Boyega will lead the film along with Cailee Spaeney and Scott Eastwood.

Returning for the sequel is Rinko Kikuchi and Charlie Day. Plot details are still under wraps as an official synopsis has yet to be released, however, the sequel will follow Jake Pentecost as he takes up his father’s sword, piloting a Jaeger against the resurgent Kaiju.

The film also stars Adria Arjona, Jing Tian, Burn Gorman, Levi Meaden, Karan Brar, and Nick E. Tarabay.

Pacific Rim: Uprising hits theaters February 23, 2018.
