Sonic. He can really move. Sonic. He’s got an attitude. Sonic. He’s the Fastest Thing Alive. Alright, that’s enough quoting the lyrics to SATAM. What fans have seen so far from Paramount’s live action Sonic the Hedgehog has managed to do one thing thought impossible for the ever-divided Sonic fanbase: unite them. Sure, not everyone is in opposition to how the blue blur will look in live-action, but reactions have been the complete opposite of positive. Or, at the very least, to see what kind of film this will be when the movie speeds into theaters.
Obviously the folks behind the film have taken note of the reaction online. And not that they’re allowing fans to dictate the conversation, but the Sonic Movie Twitter account released an image last night showcasing the blue hedgehog with some very muscular legs and holding a sign that reads “Can’t a guy work out? Be back next year.” Accompanying this image is the tweet caption “This shouldn’t get any attention on the internet, right? #RespectTheLegs #SonicMovie.” Yeah, they know what they’re doing here.
Have a look at Sonic remembering leg day in the tweet below.
Obviously the people working behind the scenes and on the marketing for the Sonic film have seen how fans reacted, so rather than back down, they’re acknowledging that hey, something released on the internet in relation to this film is bound to get some attention on the internet. Not to mention that hey, as fast as Sonic is, of course he’d probably have killer legs. But obviously this won’t be how the hedgehog will look on film. Still, it’s a nice way to toy with the fans.
