Patrick Stewart Reflects On ‘Logan’ Initial Concerns & Filming Experience

Logan may have been a particularly bittersweet farewell to both Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, but Stewart has claimed that he had a lot of fun with the movie. In addition, he reveals what worried him about the film before he began filming.

Speaking with Mirror UK, Stewart revealed that his biggest concern with the movie was not with its much bleaker outlook on the X-Men setting, but that he was worried about being typecast in his old age:

“There might have been moments before Logan when I thought, ‘If I do this and I really go for it, am I only going to get cast as geriatrics from now on?’ I am not quite there yet!”

However, once he found his footing, Stewart found that he greatly enjoyed the role, especially once he’d learned that he’d be playing off of Jackman in nearly every scene that he was in:

“Will people say, ‘Oh, no, we can’t have him playing a healthy, fit individual. He is just too weak and frail and old.’ But screw it! It was so much fun… And I enjoyed every aspect of it, particularly given that I was going to be sharing almost all of my time with Hugh [Jackman].”

Logan is certainly not a movie for the faint of heart and it’s an incredibly hard movie for X-Men fans to watch, but Stewart definitely left the franchise on a high note. Here’s hoping that he can have another performance as powerful as the one he gave in his X-Men swan song.
