Patrick Wilson Celebrates ‘Aquaman’ Outgrossing ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Patrick Wilson recently took to social media to celebrate Aquaman outgrossing The Dark Knight Rises at the worldwide box office.

For years, as far as DC heroes go, Superman and Batman ruled the big screen. Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, in particular, took the world by storm with its first installment Batman Begins in 2005, its groundbreaking sequel The Dark Knight in 2008, and its epic conclusion The Dark Knight Rises in 2012. Until recently, The Dark Knight Rises was the highest grossing DC movie at the worldwide box office but thanks to last year’s Aquaman, that milestone has been surpassed.

Despite following the controversial Justice League film, Aquaman has been captivating audiences since early December. Its box office reign has continued strong in the weeks following its U.S. debut. Now, the film has officially outgrossed The Dark Knight Rises to become the highest grossing DC film of all time. Patrick Wilson, who plays King Orm in Aquaman, recently responded to the incredible box office achievement with an awesome 10-year challenge featuring his character. Check out the box office celebration from Patrick Wilson in the Twitter post below.

Aquaman continues to dominate the worldwide box office and fans won’t have to wait too long to enjoy more adventures from the DC Extended Universe. This April, the light-hearted origin story Shazam! will hit theaters with Zachary Levi playing the titular hero. In October, Joaquin Phoenix will headline the highly-anticipated villain origin story Joker, directed by The Hangover‘s Todd Phillips.
