The announcement that Reeves was officially confirmed to direct The Batman was met with an overwhelmingly positive response given the directors successful career directing big budget blockbusters. It also came as a major relief to fans following the challenges the project was met with in development.
Warner Bros. was faced with finding a new director when Ben Affleck stepped down as director after they came to the decision with Affleck that he would not be able to perform as well as helm the project to the level they required.
The road to Reeves boarding the project wasn’t the smoothest either. After it was announced the director was in talks to board the project, he then exited after negotiations with Warner Bros. had broken down but fortunately, Reeves was able to reach an agreement with the studio that led to him signing on to direct. Reeves will produce the film as well along with Affleck. Affleck and DC Entertainment chief creative officer Geoff Johns also recently took to Twitter to welcome Reeves and extend their support.
The Batman does not currently have a release date.
