‘Ghostbusters’ Director Paul Feig Slams ‘Captain Marvel’ Review Bombers

Ghostbusters director Paul Feig has come to the defense of Captain Marvel, which has become quite controversial in recent weeks.

In 2016, Paul Feig directed the Ghostbusters reboot starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. The film became controversial due to the replacing of the original cast with a new all-female team. Paul Feig battled trolls online during the film’s production and it resulted in the 2016 Ghostbusters film underperforming at the box office.

Brie Larson recently came under fire for comments she made during press for Captain Marvel. This led to angry trolls swarming the Rotten Tomatoes page for the film in an effort to hurt its audience score. Paul Feig recently took to his Twitter account to share his very honest thoughts on the issue. Check out what the director had to say about the Captain Marvel controversy in the post below.

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel will be released in theaters on March 8, 2019.
