At the beginning of the year, it was announced Jason Reitman was directing a Ghostbusters film set in the same universe as the original 1984 film. Now, Paul Rudd has joined the cast of the tentatively titled Ghostbusters 2020, with Variety sources saying the Ant-Man star will play a teacher in the sequel.
Director Jason Reitman made the following statement on the casting, noting how long he has waited to work with Ant-Man‘s Paul Rudd:
“I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ at Sundance. I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe.”

Ghostbusters 2020 will be a sequel to the first two movies and reportedly focuses on a single mom and her family. Carrie Coon will play the mother while Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard and Captain Marvel star Mckenna Grace portray her children. Whether or not original cast members Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Bill Murray will return is currently unknown.
Directed by Jason Reitman from a script he co-wrote with Gil Kena, Ghostbusters 2020 will star Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace. Production is set to begin this Summer.
Ghostbusters 2020 is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 10, 2020.
