Paul Thomas Anderson Interested In Making ‘Teen Titans’ Movie

Director Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood) has revealed that if he could direct a movie for his children, it would be an adaptation of Teen Titans. Perhaps DC Entertainment should put him on speed dial?

Contrary to what one would expect from an auteur in the film industry, Anderson has defended the superhero genre as being every bit as legitimate as any other form of film. So perhaps it’s not too surprising to hear that, if he had to pick a movie to direct for his children, he would go with an adaptation of Teen Titans:

Between the current Titans DC Television show in development and the possibility — however slim — of an Anderson-directed movie, fans have quite a bit to look forward to. (Then again, up until a few weeks ago, the prospect of Quentin Tarantino doing a Star Trek movie was similarly implausible, so really, who knows?) For now, there’s always the — admittedly divisive — Teen Titans GO! series and its forthcoming feature-length adaptation, Teen Titans GO! To The Movies. That film’s synopsis is as follows:

It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own movies—everyone but the Teen Titans, that is! But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously super villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line!

Teen Titans GO! To The Movies features the voice talents of Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Scott Menville as Robin, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Tara Strong as Raven, and Hyden Walch as Starfire.
