New ‘Pennyworth’ Teaser Has Batman’s Future Butler Recall His Violent Past

Epix released a new Pennyworth teaser that hints at the violent past of Batman’s future butler.

DC’s upcoming series Pennyworth will center on Alfred’s experiences after his service as British SAS soldier, long before he becomes the surrogate father and trusted ally of Batman. Now, Epix has released a new Pennyworth teaser filled with new footage as Alfred recounts the violent acts he had to carry out during his service and vows to live a peaceful life from now on.

From Warner Horizon Scripted Television, DC origin story Pennyworth is a ten-episode, one-hour drama series based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), Bruce’s billionaire father, in 1960’s London.

Pennyworth stars Jack Bannon, Paloma Faith, Ben Aldridge, Hainsley Lloyd Bennett, Ryan Fletcher, Jason Flemyng, and Polly Walker. Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller serves as executive producer of the series alongside Danny Cannon.

Pennyworth will premiere on July 28, 2019, on Epix.
