'Ant-Man and the Wasp' director Peyton Reed hints at the upcoming Marvel sequel by sharing a photo from the classic film, 'The Incredible Shrinking Man'.
During the film’s mid-credits scene, we see Hank give his daughter Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) a gift: The Wasp suit. Years before, Hank was the original Ant-Man and went on adventures and missions alongside his wife Janet van Dyne. Janet unfortunately died during a mission alongside Hank, which discouraged him for years before he meets Scott.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will bring one of Marvel’s most dynamic duos to the screen, and with Reed returning to the director’s chair he will certainly explore more of Ant-Man’s POV when he shrinks. To throw some excitement to the fans, Reed tweeted a photo from the classic film, The Incredible Shrinking Man to tease some prep work:
Ant-Man featured some of the most visually creative action scenes within the MCU – much of which is thanks to Edgar Wright – whom departed from the film due to creative differences with Marvel.
But Reed deserves credit for expertly transporting audiences to see the world through Scott’s eyes. And if this photo is any indication, perhaps Reed is taking some inspiration from The Incredible Shrinking Man for this new entry within the MCU.
Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang a.k.a. Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne a.k.a. the Wasp, Michael Peña as Luis, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Hannah John-Kamen, and David Dastmalchian as Kurt.
The film is set to hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
