Phil Lord & Chris Miller Comment On Rick Famuyiwa Directing ‘The Flash’

Long before Seth Grahame-Smith signed on to direct the big screen adaptation of The Flash starring Ezra Miller, The Lego Movie helmers Phil Lord And Chris Miller were hired by Warner Bros. to develop a story for the project. After Grahame-Smith parted ways with the studio, Dope director Rick Famuyiwa (who is also working with the duo on a Greatest American Hero remake for FOX) was brought on board to replace him.

Speaking with IGN to promote their upcoming FOX series Son of Zorn, Lord and Miller had nothing but praise for the new The Flash director:

Lord: “We work with Rick and have been developing a pilot with him for a little while and are really big fans of his and Dope. I think he’s a rad choice.”

Miller: “He’s going to do a great job on it.”

Some of the Justice League set visit reports have made it clear that The Flash will bring some much needed levity to the DC Extended Universe. When asked whether or not they have anything to do with that, Miller had the following to say:

“They had that planned for him in the first place. That’s why they were talking to us in the first place because that’s how they wanted to go with that character, and I think that’s why they came to us. He brings in new energy. Batman has to be kind of bummed out because his parents died and Superman is already established as a serious person and Wonder Woman’s angry about stuff. Stuff’s happening. But then you’ve got a guy who’s like, ‘Eh, whatever, I run fast!’”

What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to seeing Ezra Miller as the Fastest Man Alive in the DCEU? Be sure to sound-off your thoughts in the comment section.
