‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 5’: Brenton Thwaites On Henry Turner’s Goal

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales star Brenton Thwaites on his character Henry Turner's quest to break his father's curse.

We already know that, in Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, series newcomer Brenton Thwaites is playing Henry Turner, son of Orlando Bloom’s original Pirates trilogy character Will Turner. In the film, Henry is on a quest, alongside Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and astronomer Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), to find the legendary Trident of Poseidon.

Thwaites recently spoke to USA Today, who also just released a new image of Henry Turner from the film, which you can check out above. The actor spoke a little bit about his character’s motivations:

“He’s a guy who wants to do good and help people.”

Thwaites also spoke about how his character’s goal — to free his father from servitude aboard the Flying Dutchman — parallels his father’s mission to save his own father.

“Us young men are always trying to break the curse of our fathers. It will never end.”

Directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales stars the returning Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush, who will be joined by newcomers Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, David Wenham and Paul McCartney. Keira Knightley will also reprise her role as Elizabeth Swann in a cameo appearance. Here’s the official synopsis:

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea… including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales hits theaters May 26, 2017.
