In October, it was reported that Disney was developing a reboot of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick set to pen the script for the new film. The new Pirates of the Caribbean movies will reportedly move forward without Johnny Depp as the eccentric Captain Jack Sparrow and Disney Film Production Chief discussed whether or not the franchise can survive without the character who was arguably the most popular one in the series at one point:
“We want to bring in a new energy and vitality. I love the [Pirates] movies, but part of the reason Paul and Rhett are so interesting is that we want to give it a kick in the pants. And that’s what I’ve tasked them with.”
Johnny Depp’s most recent outing as Jack Sparrow was in the fifth film in franchise subtitled Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea… including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Brendon Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, Golshifteh Farahani, Kevin McNally, Stephen Graham, Orlando Bloom, and Geoffrey Rush.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is now available on Digital HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
