‘Resident Evil VIII: Village’ Officially Revealed For PlayStation 5

The latest entry in the long-running survival horror video game franchise, Resident Evil VIII: Village has officially been revealed for the PlayStation 5.

Earlier today, Sony held a live-stream reveal event for its upcoming console, the PlayStation 5. During the event, the revealed several upcoming games, including Horizon Forbidden West and Spider-Man: Miles Morales as well as our first official look at the upcoming video game system. One of the trailers that was revealed towards the end, however, was Resident Evil VIII: Village.

Resident Evil is, of course, a long-running horror franchise that often receives the credit for starting the survival horror video game genre. The last main entry, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, was released back in 2017 before the franchise took a break from its main installments and instead focused on the development of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes. Now, however, the franchise is making a proper sequel to the previous game.

You can see the full trailer for the upcoming PlayStation 5 game below:

Details on the upcoming game are currently unknown. Based on what we could tell from the trailer, the game will take place in a village full of people undoubtedly infected with kind of virus. RE7  protagonist Ethan seems to be the main character once again with longtime Resident Evil hero Chris Redfield is also returning in what appears to be some kind of antagonistic role. The game is currently set to be released sometime in 2021.

What did you all think of this trailer? Are you looking forward to the next game in the franchise? Would you rather it had been a remake of Resident Evil 4? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
