PlayStation announced the new video series along with the release of the first episode on the official PlayStation blog today. The first episode features an inside look at the story for sequel as the Naughty Dog team dishes on their approach to developing a worthy successor to the first game. PlayStation will release a brand new episode for the next three weeks, ramping up to the game’s release next month.
You can check out the first episode of Inside The Last Of Us Part II below.
The Last of Us Part II picks up the story of Ellie and Joel five years after the events of the first game, featuring a narrative that is the thematic opposite of its predecessor. The sequel follows Ellie on a quest for revenge after a religious cult known as the Seraphites threaten the survivors of the post-apocalyptic world including those in Tommy’s camp in Jackson.
Previously set to release on May 29, the Sony video game was delayed indefinitely due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but the sequel is now officially set to release on June 19. The new date was announced several weeks ago just after Naughty Dog suffered a leak that exposed key assets which revealed key story elements from the long-awaited sequel. Sony has since identified the individuals responsible for the leak, which are said to not be affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment or Naughty Dog.
Both Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson have reprised their roles as Joel and Ellie respectively. Newcomers to the cast include Westworld actress Shannon Woodard, Patrick Fugit, Laura Bailey, Victoria Grace, Ian Alexander, and Stephen A. Chang.
The Last of Us Part II will be available exclusively on PlayStation 4 on June 19. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the Naughty Dog sequel and you can also subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content in the future!
