‘Pokemon Detective Pikachu’ CinemaScore Revealed

Pokemon Detective Pikachu has grabbed an official CinemaScore and it’s on par with how the film has been received by both fans and critics alike.

It’s safe to say that Pokemon Detective Pikachu has received enough accolades from fans and critics to be an acceptable video-game-based film. These kinds of films are usually trashed by moviegoers for missing the essence of what their favorite video-game characters really represent. Fortunately, it seems Pokemon Detective Pikachu passed the test; at least for CinemaScore. The first live-action Pokemon film got an A- which is somewhat expected after the movie got a lower tier Fresh certification from Rotten Tomatoes.

The film capitalizes on the huge Pokemon success that started during the mid-90s and it’s still going strong with video-games, trading card games, animated series, animated films, etc. Pikachu has become the most recognizable Pokemon of all and a trademark for the franchise since the Pocket Monster mania first broke out. Since then, it’s safe to say that Pikachu has become a pop culture icon for many. Now Ryan Reynolds has given the electric mouse a special and peculiar twist which fans and critics seemed to have enjoyed, making the film a must-see for long-time Pokemon fans.

Here is a plot synopsis for Pokemon: Detective Pikachu:

The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.

Directed by Rob Letterman from a script he co-wrote with Dan Hernandez & Benji Samit, Derek Connolly, and Nicole Perlman, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular pocket monster, Justice Smith as Tim, Kathryn Newton as Lucy, and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe as Lt. Yoshida.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is in theaters everywhere.
