Lionsgate’s official Twitter account for the upcoming Power Rangers reboot has teased the appearance of the Green Ranger.
While the new film is a darker, more mature reimagining of the original Fox Kids series, it remains true to its core with the characters of the teenagers with attitude, only it’s missing the most popular Ranger, The Green Ranger aka Tommy Oliver played by Jason David Frank in the series.
While the Green Ranger himself didn’t show up until the 17th episode of the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, nor does he appear to be in the reboot from Lionsgate — although Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks) does seem to be harnessing the power of the Dragon coin — Lionsgate is wasting no time teasing a future appearance of the Green Ranger as they have just revealed the design for his helmet online. You can check it out below.
Does this get you excited to see the Green Ranger in a potential sequel for the new film? Sound off in the comments below.
The film stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott (Red Ranger), RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston (Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart (Pink Ranger), Becky G as Trini Kwan (Yellow Ranger), Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor (Black Ranger), Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Bill Hader as Alpha 5, and Bryan Cranston as Zordon. Here’s the official synopsis:
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
Power Rangers hits theaters everywhere tomorrow.
