Lionsgate has released a brand new clip from the upcoming Saban's Power Rangers, entitled "Underwater." The Rangers venture under the water, literally.
In the clip, entitled “Underwater,” the soon-to-be Rangers check out how they glow whilst in the water of an underground cave before venturing down under the water. Literally, like, underneath the water. Check out the clip below:
There’s nothing too revelatory here, this is just a fun little clip. Most of this scene has been featured in previous trailers, with the back and forth between Billy and Zack about Zack being “black,” but the “underwater” part has only briefly appeared. I have always loved the idea of there being a whole other world underneath the ocean (an idea that I enjoyed when it was explored in Disney’s Moana).
From everything I’ve seen so far, it appears that the teenagers seem to have a pretty great rapport, as they show off in this clip. As a child of the ’90s who was once obsessed with this franchise, I’m really looking forward to this film. I’m fully anticipating being let down by it, but I have to say, I’m loving everything I’ve seen thus far.
Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart/Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini Kwan/Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor/Black Ranger, Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Bill Hader as Alpha 5 and Bryan Cranston as Zordon.
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
Power Rangers hits theaters March 24, 2017.
