The Death of Miles
This scene is a little heartbreaking, at least to me, but it’s so tense and so well-done that it deserves to be recognized. The build-up, which is expertly handled, and the payoff are all expected from a mile away, but the way they build it up, especially from the performances by Griffiths and Mabe, are what really sell it. It’s all about letting the other shoe drop. Or, more appropriately, waiting for the vampire to sink his teeth, and it all comes down to timing. It would be easy to let this moment happen in a flash, but thankfully the Preacher team waits it out, letting the dread settle before letting the attack happen, if off-screen.
