‘The Punisher’ Season 2 Will Not Address Thanos’ Snap In ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

When the Marvel/Netflix partnership was originally announced, we were told that Netflix’s Marvel shows will be taking place in the same cinematic universe as the films. The possibility of television-movie crossovers excited fans. Sadly, it has been a practice mostly in theory.

Thanks to a new report from Collider, we now know that Punisher season two will continue the longstanding tradition laid out by Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones by largely ignoring the events of the Marvel movies. To be more specific, the events of Avengers: Infinity War will not be discussed by any of the characters in the second outing of Jon Bernthal’s solo series.

What do you think about Netflix continuing to ignore the Marvel movies? Does the inconsistency in supposed canon frustrate you or are you glad that each production gets to stand alone? Let us know in the comments!

The Punisher Season 2 stars Jon Bernthal, Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah, Jason R. Moore, Josh Stewart, Floriana Lima, and Giorgia Whigham.

After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.

The Punisher Season 2 releases on Netflix in January.
