‘The Punisher’: Ben Barnes Responds To Criticism On Jigsaw’s Scars

The trailer for Season two of Marvel’s The Punisher hit all of the marks, yes, but fans have noticed that Ben Barnes looks a bit too neat after Billy Russo’s… ahem, accident in the first season. Well, actor Billy Russo took note of that and took to Twitter to briefly respond to one qualm with the Netflix series’ take on Jigsaw.

Well, I say qualm, but it’s more of a response to fan art than anything else. So BossLogic created some fan art of Ben Barnes’ Billy Russo with a slightly more scarred face. Something more akin to what you saw in Punisher: War Zone, actually. Accompanying this was the caption “If the surgery wasn’t amazing in the next season of @ThePunisher @Netflix.” And to be fair, many have griped that, after getting his face slammed into the glass multiple times, Billy Russo still looks a bit too neat in the trailer for The Punisher.

Then again, it is a trailer. For all we know, perhaps Billy could look worse later on in the season. These Marvel Netflix shows aren’t above hiding or keeping key details until the end. Think about how long it took for Matt Murdock to get an actual red suit in Daredevil, for example. Or for Danny Rand to wear… actually, never mind on that one. But Ben Barnes responded to BossLogic’s art, complimenting it and hoping that viewers will tune in to see what the series has in mind when they watch the entirety of the second season of The Punisher. Here, have a look at his response.

We don’t know when a lot of the moments from the trailer will take place. So again, it’s entirely possible that ben Barnes’ character ends up looking more gruesome as the season progresses. Heck, maybe Frank puts him through even more glass and he winds up looking more like the Jigsaw you remember. Either way, what do you think of Ben Barnes’ response? Do you think there will be more to Jigsaw’s appearance in the second season of The Punisher? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Marvel’s The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal, Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah, Jason R. Moore, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Daniel Webber, Paul Schulze, Michael Nathanson, Floriana Lima, Jaime Ray Newman, and Deborah Ann Woll.

The second season will debut on Netflix this Friday, January 18, 2019.
