In the wake of the Sunday night's tragic events, Marvel has canceled this Saturday's panel for its upcoming Netflix series The Punisher.
Netflix and Marvel released a joint statement on the matter:
“We are stunned and saddened by this week’s senseless act in Las Vegas. After careful consideration, Netflix and Marvel have decided it wouldn’t be appropriate for Marvel’s The Punisher to participate in New York Comic Con. Our thoughts continue to be with the victims and those affected by this tragedy.”
The panel was originally scheduled for 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. The cast including Jon Bernthal was to be on hand for a Q&A and to present an exclusive look at the new series along with showrunner Steve Lightfoot, and executive producers Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb.
The series stars Jon Bernthal, Ben Barnes, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Jason R. Moore, Daniel Webber, Paul Schulze, Jaime Ray Newman, Michael Nathanson, with Daredevil‘s Deborah Ann Woll returning as Karen Page. Here’s the official synopsis:
After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.
Marvel’s The Punisher is expected to hit Netflix this fall.
