The outlet’s sources say John Krasinski has officially signed on to helm the sequel to the acclaimed horror film A Quiet Place. The star, writer, and director of the first film was already on board to write the sequel. Emily Blunt, who played Krasinski’s wife in the film and is also married to him in real life, has also reportedly closed a deal to reprise her role in A Quiet Place 2.
The project will reportedly begin production in July 2019, with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form on board as producers.
The first film followed a family’s struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic inhabited by extraterrestrial creatures with an acute sense of hearing, which forced humans to remain silent in order to avoid becoming prey. The story concluded with Emily Blunt’s Evelyn Abbot preparing to take on the creatures as they invaded the home she took shelter in with her children and husband (who sacrificed himself to save his family) after discovering a way to defeat them.
A Quiet Place 2 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on May 15, 2020.
