Taking advantage of the hype generated by Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sony Pictures will re-release their five previous Spider-Man movies on Blu-Ray.
It looks as though Sony are planning to take advantage of Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s forthcoming release by coming up with new box sets containing their original Spider-Man movies.
Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and other outlets are all indicating that Sony is planning to drop all five of their original Spider-Man movies in the near future. As it stands, there appear to be three separate box sets according to Spider-Man News. The first, dubbed Spider-Man: Origins, is a four-disc set that contains the Sam Raimi trilogy – and it appears as though an extended cut of the third film may be included as a part of this collection. The second, Spider-Man: Evolution, is a three-disc set that features the Marc Webb duology. The third is called Spider-Man: The Legacy Collection, and it contains all five movies remastered in the 4K HD format.
Spider-Man News speculated that in addition to an extended cut of Spider-Man 3, Sony could be preparing a lengthier version of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a movie that had a lot left on the cutting-room floor. We’ll be sure to update you on the content of these Blu-Ray collections as we learn more about them.
Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7, 2017. The film features a cast that includes Tom Holland as Peter Parker (Spider-Man), Robert Downey Junior as Tony Stark (Iron Man), Zendaya Coleman as Michelle, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Tony Revolori as “Flash” Thompson, Laura Harrier as Liz Allan, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jon Favreau as Harold “Happy” Hogan, Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes (Vulture), Bokeem Woodbine as Herman Schultz (Shocker), and Michael Chernus as Phineas Mason (Tinkerer).
