Red Carpet: ‘Gotham’ Stars Talk The Court Of Owls In Season 3

Straight from the red carpet at tonight’s premier of Gotham‘s third season, actors David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne) and Sean Pertwee (Alfred) spoke with E! News about the mysterious group the Court of Owls. The Court of Owls is the Illuminati-esque group that sits behind the scenes and pulls the strings in the city. They were the group responsible for Hugo Strange’s experiments in season two and are ultimately to blame for the Indian Hill monster escapees going into season three.

Check out the E! News video below:

When asked about the Court of Owls, Pertwee responded with the following:

“The Court of Owls, as we discover, really are the puppetmasters for the whole of Gotham.”

Mazouz chimes in and continues on:

“Like Sean said, they control everything in Gotham, mysteriously, behind the scenes. And the thing that I love about it is that, at the end of season two, Bruce is really the only character that realizes, ‘Oh crap, we’re in trouble’. Season three picks up six months after season two, and in that six months Bruce and Alfred were in Switzerland, and in the premier Bruce and Alfred come back to Gotham for a specific reason that might have to do with the Court of Owls.”

In addition to Mazouz and Pertwee, Selina Kyle actress, Cameron Bicondova, was also asked about the Court of Owls and elaborates about the secret society:

“I think the Court of Owls is definitely going to be a big part of this season. We’re learning that this whole time, Gotham has been ruled by this secret society and this secret group of people. This whole time, people have been thinking that anarchy has been happening, when really it’s oligarchy, I guess you could say.”

Bicondova also talks her darker path this season as she re-confirms that she will meet her mother, and talks about her and Bruce’s evolving relationship.

In addition to the Court themselves, we will also be seeing their infamous hitman, Talon. Pertwee teases Talon quickly before the end of the brief interview:

“There’s Talon, [the Court of Owls’] sort-of chief hitman, he features.”

Make sure to check out both videos, as Pertwee talks the evolving bond between Alfred and Bruce, Mazouz touches on some of the villains coming to the third season, and Maggie Geha (Poison Ivy) talks meeting her younger self who was already introduced into the show.
