Production on ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’, the eighth installment in the ‘Star Wars‘ saga, recently finished, but the film’s still got a long way to go before its release. The arduous road of editing, effects, music, and marketing still lies ahead for the ‘Force Awakens’ follow-up, but it’s never too early to get obsessed over every bit of ‘Episode VIII’ related news. Recently, legendary composer John Williams said he will see a screening of the film in the next few weeks and begin scoring. And it looks as though Rian Johnson is getting ready for that screening, because he posted a picture on Instagram to mark the beginning of post-production.
In the picture, we see an unknown person at the monitors (either Rian Johnson or the film’s editor, Bob Ducsay), ready to start the long editing process on the film. Obviously, even though John Williams will see a “screening” of it in a few weeks, that version will be the far-from-finished assembly cut. We still have exactly a year and four months until the film’s December 2017 release date, but as we can see from this picture, ‘Episode VIII’ is one step closer to reality. Now here’s hoping Rian Johnson and company can have enough presentable footage soon for our first trailer.
‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Lupita Nyong’O, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran, and Andy Serkis. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson, and it will be playing in a galaxy far, far away (or in your local theater) on December 15, 2017.
