‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’: Richard E. Grant’s Villainous Role Finally Revealed

Richard E. Grant’s role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has finally been revealed, as Vanity Fair has confirmed that he will be playing a villainous character named Allegiant General Pryde.

Afer Star Wars: The Last Jedi, many were skeptical about the third installment of the new trilogy. Many fans were seemingly done with the franchise after the film and were seeking a reason to come back, but Disney won some of them over with the release of the first trailer for The Rise of Skywalker a couple of months ago. However, what really brought fans back was the surprise announcement that veteran Star Wars actor Ian McDiarmid would return to play Emperor Palpatine once again in The Rise of Skywalker.

However, McDiarmid isn’t the only incredible British actor in The Rise of Skywalker. Richard E. Grant joined the film very early on, but there had been no word about who the actor is playing. Many fans were expecting the actor to be the father of Domnhall Gleeson’s General Hux, but according to Vanity Fair, he’s actually playing a villainous character known as Allegiant General Pryde. You can see Richard E. Grant alongside Gleeson in a new The Rise of Skywalker image below.

While there are no other details about Allegiant General Pryde, Richard E. Grant’s character appears to be a big player in the First Order following the death of Supreme Leader Snoke in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. While Richard E. Grant is mostly known to the acting community for his “Oscar-caliber” roles, the actor is no stranger to big projects, having appeared in HBO’s Game of Thrones and Hugh Jackman’s final X-Men movie Logan.

Directed by J. J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Ian McDiarmid and Billy Dee Williams. Carrie Fisher will appear as General Leia Organa through the use of previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
